Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

My husband is likely to be too busy to ski this winter. I would still like to go though. I prefer to ski with people than on my own, and the same goes for eating! Can anyone recommend a ski company, who can cater for a lady of more modest years on her own? I am not past it, but my capacity for living it up at both ends of the scale went years ago! Confused

margaret, there's been a recent thread here and you might find some more if you search. Good luck.

Or you could look at the Ski Club of GB holidays. They are designed for people at a particular ski standard or doing a particular kind of skiing, and you ski with the holiday leader or with a guide or teacher (the holiday details will say). I think their holidays become available at the end of this month and aren't on the web yet (they say it will be middle of this month so any day now). You do have to join the club but it isn't that expensive and there are lots of fringe benefits.
They also have a rep in most major resorts for you to ski with casually - you can do a day without joining and it is cheaper to join in a resort. However different days are intended to be offered at different standards so you may not be able to ski with the resort rep every day.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

margaret, I did a week's ski course as a solo, with the Ski Company (now known as Inspired to Ski, I think). There are several other firms offering similar trips, which are absolutely ideal. Next time your husband isn't too busy to ski, you'll be skiing rings around him. wink

Margaret, I concur with Snowball-- skiclub.co.uk for an excellent range of holidays ,importantly, graded so you will definitely find on-slope company of compatible ability. You can choose piste holidays or off-piste.

Also try Mark Warner who offer ski-hosts to guide groups of varying levels of abilityround the pistes (not off-piste ) . Their chalet-hotel holidays are very informal and enable easy mixing.

Also try www.skivolution.co.uk working out of excellent catered chalets in Courchevel and offering a half-day of ski instruction each day with their BASI qualified staff ,to your level, as included within the (very reasonable) price. Ring them on 01635 37774 to discuss your needs in depth and pick a likely good week for suitable companions.

Enjoy your week. We need more of you ladies to be bold and add some colour to the week. ! . Very Happy

Margaret I used to go on skiing holidays on my own too and found that going to a catered chalet gave me a ready made group of skiers coupled with being in a resort where there was a SCGB rep added variety too!!

margaret, l've been 3 times with Essex University. David Williams director of Sports organises an excellent trip the first week in Jan. All types of people, all abilities. lt's a no-frills, Equity Ski package flying from Stansted, there is a pre-trip meet to see the people you'll room with, ask Q's. No idea where it is this time, don't worry it will be ski in/ski out and snow sure with a good mix of runs.
