Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt ski-bus map on-line ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,
I am planning a snowboarding vacation, and Zermatt is a possibility.
I'm trying to locate the Zermatt ski-bus map, so I could have accommodation within short walking distance of a ski-bus stop.
Googling didn't get me a link to this map.
Do any of you know where could I see the Zermatt ski-bus map on-line ? Puzzled
Thanks,
BR.

Hi Arlberg,
Thanks for the pointer.
I could find there (with my non-existing German) what I assume are the the bus' Summer timetable at BUSBETRIEB LINIE BERGBAHNEN and BUSBETRIEB LINIE WINKELMATTEN.
Alas, no ski-bus map.
Bye,
Ron.

boardrider, It basically runs from nr the station, down to the river and up to the first gondola.

I love Zermatt but its skibus is c***... do what arlberg, does all the time and take an electric taxi Shocked ... in fact apart from waiting for the bus( and it being too busy) I didnt think the 'Brothers' and 'Friends' had actually been on it Shocked

Great resort.

But don't bother going unless you can find a hotel next to a major lift.

The skibuses suck. They are tiny, slow and overcrowded.

That is a serious problem with Zermatt! We stayed in a place just off the main strip! In the morning from the time we left the hotel to the time we actually did some skiing was in the region of 45mins! Be aware of this! Once you are on the slopes it is divine, with that stunning view making up for the long transfer to the mountain!!

what ski bus isnt crowded...

at new year 2008 we never had to wait more than 2 buses getting home and they're pretty frequent. In the mornings we always got on the first bus to come. We were leaving at about 8am. I guess bed rotters might have had bigger queues once the beautiful people got up later in the morning/afternoon.

They had some much bigger buses this past winter.
We are staying down near the Sunegga express this year so we have 2 options, go up to Rothorn or be nearer the start of the bus line if we want to go upto Kleine Matterhorn.
Much more of a pain is the coming back of an evening, we've found a way round that, but its our secret for now, will let the world know on December 29th, when we are back home.
Yes they are crowded, but thats one of the downsides for arguably the best all-round ski resort in the world.

hobbiteater, Lucky sod, we had to wait and wait and wait Sad

Of course if you are staying near the terminus you could be lucky or if many got off the funicular there may be capacity at the next stop.

arlberg, Certainly a beautiful place. But a serious pain in the @rse getting to the slopes. We did not have a problem coming off the mountain though, bus was always waiting.

The ski buses were not worth waiting for, if their batteries wern't flat the busses were full. Took the communal electric taxis. As mentioned the route follws the river & is flat so poled it on a couple of occassions raher than perish waiting.
