Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Discounts on BASI courses

Found out today if you are a BASI member you get 1/2 price ski club of GB membership which as an individual is only 25.50.

As a ski club member you get 10% off BASI course fees for courses from 30th September - 1st May 2009. Only exceptions are GAP courses and for some weird reason Mountain safety and Common Theory.

I would have joined the Ski Club if Common Theory and Mountain Safety hadn't been exempted! Maybe the season after next if I'm planning Teach and Tech courses. It will save a bit of money which is good, but I can't see what the advantage is to either organisation of this arrangement.

yes i saw that and thought it odd. Only reason i could think of is that maybe there's a smaller profit margin on these coures, therefore they can't afford to offer the discount?

Almost makes it worthwhile joining, doesn't it! wink

rob@rar, BASI instructors join the SCGB to get the discounts. SCGB members consider doing BASI courses?

Seems strange that SCGG get 10% discount off BASI courses, but BASI members pay full price Puzzled

Spyderman, Ski CLub so seem to do a good job of getting discounts with Tour operators and course providers. doesnt seem strange to me that BASI would want promote courses to ski club members but i am a little surprised it doesnt exlcude current BASI members wink not complaining though as i saved 89 quid on the BASI courses and got a half price ski club membership as well... snowHead

Spyderman, i had the same reaction when i first heard about it - BASI is a members' organistaion, so it seems a bit off to be offering another organisation's members a discount whilst we pay full price? However, I'm not going to complain, because by paying £25.50 to join SCGB and then get 10% off I can save money too...

skimottaret, probably, but I think I'd rather use my precious holiday weeks on training for the tech first.

Are you feeling more confident about your bumps skiing now?

P.S. Heard anything from CSCF yet?!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

beanie1, nope very un confident on bumps but thought i would give it a bash ans see how it goes, if i flunk out it will have been a good two week training course, if i pass time to start telemarking Toofy Grin

nothing from cscf

skimottaret, can see the logic behind it, it's probably the best training you could get. Trouble is i hate failing, so would be very stressed the entire two weeks! Think I'll wait until I'm more confident I would get it.

 You know it makes sense.

beanie1, instead of training why not take the 1 week teach first pass that as well as getting a read on your chances for the tech...
