Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How likely to close is the road out of Lech?

Does anybody know how often the road to/from Lech closes during winter. I'm off there this weekend and need to be 100% sure I'll be able to get out on Sunday afternoon.

I would say it averages about once a season although the one time I got stuck in Lech eight years ago we were there for four days!

That is unusual though and I would expect if the problem does arise, with warmer temperatures at this time of year the road should be cleared quickly. The problem area is the wide high open valley before you get to Zurs travelling from the St Anton direction.

Don't worry and just go for it.

I'd say on average it's closed a few times a year ca 1 to 3. It was closed last week when they had a dump of new snow. It's not just that the road gets blocked with snow it's that the avalanche risk onto the road can warrant closure.

Snow is predicted Sat but not Sunday so you should be OK .... (weather report and opinion subject to change)
