Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Service \ Wear Question

Assuming no real damage, and that the person doing the work isnt a muppet. Is there a issue where have ski's serviced actually causes the skis excesive wear?
What's the effect on the skis of differing types of service?

Thanks for the info. If I get the oportunity i'll take you up on one of your lessons. So, do skis have a max 'shop full service' life? How many full shop services? Or is that 'how long's a piece of string". None of my ski's got to the worn out stage, it was me that got worn out or moved on before them.

Yes but how many depends on the level of maintenance of the machines used & the ability of the tech. There's a wide range of machines available but they're all very close in the quality they'll achieve if well maintained & operated. The more usual problem I see is excessive base grinding as opposed to edge grinding although this a problem too.

The worse case I've seen that was on a pair of Atomic SL11's that had undergone 4 shop tunes & the edges had about 70% of the material removed & the bases were down to 0.5mm thick.
