Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ever had a go at skiing "parapente"?

I did a tandem parachute 'jump' off Mount Joux (Megeve) last week - and thoroughly recommend it! Cool

You're strapped into a harness clipped to the expert and the only real instruction I got was "you ski us off the mountain, I'll deal with the parachute!". So Eddy the Eagle-like you just stand tall, weight forward . . . ski off! Shocked

Fortunately it only takes a few seconds for the parachute to inflate and then it's up, up and away. Absolutely fantastic! Once you're airborne, the harness is a seat and matey-boy does all the flying - although the acrobatics made me glad I did it before lunch! You either drift silently over the pistes and trees below - or get up a head of steam by rapidly dropping height and swinging up and round again. Incredible views too!

The landing was a bit eventful. The previous bloke dropped softly and without fuss - my pilot took us in fast and low just for the fun of a James Bond-style pose as our skis touched down and we kept skiing into a restaurant garden! But it didn't look too cool when we then hit about three feet of powder snow and binned it! Very Happy

Got some piccies. I'll post a few when I learn how!

Ah yes... happy memories...!!

I did it too (for the first time) in December, in La Plagne. Absolutely amazing experience! Fantastic flight with a lovely smooth uneventful landing... wish I could say the same for the take off. Confused We touched down again and all I can remember was the ground rushing up at a helluva rate of knots and the instructor yelling 'keep your tips up' in my ear. The descent was fantastic, exactly as you say; alternately drifting gently interspersed with bouts of spinning around and trying to keep the last hot chocolate down..!

Definately one of the most amazing things I've done... despite the need for a large brandy after the event (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!) Laughing

Look forward to seeing the pics Very Happy

Charli939, sounds great. I mistakenly read your post as being from charlatanefc, imagine my surprise........ Laughing

To the opening poster - yours sounds great too - sorry clicking on your name to put your name in the reply doesn't work - I think maybe it's because you have an apostrophe in your name?

I did it a few years ago in Courchevel - it was great but being a bit of a scardey I asked him to land us as soon as we'd taken off. That was my plan as I knew I'd be scared but I really wanted to do it, the skiing off the mountain and landing back on it bit so I was more than happy with my ten minute flight!!

I may re-register - So Soleil D'Or Crew seemed a good name at the time, but it's a faff when logging on! Embarassed
But clicking on the "reply with quote" icon seems to work okay for me. Confused

Edit: Ah, I see what you mean now - "error on page" when I click my own user name.

You can ask an administrator (Yoda, Admin or Michelle IIRC) to remove the apostrophe so you don't need to re-register. also you can click the box to log on automatically if that suits you.

Yup. At Les 2 Alpes. Fantastic - skied right off the mountain over lots of nothing. Fantastic. Recommended.
