Poster: A snowHead

... according to this interesting article in today's Independent by Stephen Wood which looks at the past and present of this high Austrian resort (along with the other 'gurgls', Hochgurgl and Untergurgl).

Yes and keep it quiet........ Too late..!!
We went a couple of seasons back and we had a great time. Keeps all sorts of appetites happy. The only thing you will not get is lively apre-ski which we can't handle anymore....!!!!

That's ok, I stop drinking about 10.00 to try and keep myself in shape for what ever the next day has in store. For me alcohol and skiing never mix.
I can't understand waiting all year to ski and then blow it because I got wasted.
If it is raining in the resort at night I am in bed by 10:00 latest.
Boring, I know, but I can always have a drink anytime in the UK.
Ian, do you know of any must-do routes off Bellecote..??

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

But getting back to Obergurgl, the pistes are all ok, but where it charms is when it has snowed. For someone who wants to try off-piste there are lots of bits where you can get involved which you can spot from the pistes particually in Hoch, without gettng into too much trouble. I didn't try it but there are lots of touring routes that start from there as well.

JT, off topic again but no I can't help you there - I'm not an off piste skier. I just enjoy cruising LP's motorway blues and reds. Fast. And I'm an early to bed guy too. Jonpim knows the LP area very well but not off piste (AFAIK). His annual visit might coincide with yours?
That Bellecote area from Grande Rochette really needs a guide, I think. Without one, you could easily get to a point where there is no way back - except a very long walk / climb.
