Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

summer skiing

Hi there. I'm new to the forum. I would like to know if there is anybody who's been summer skiing in Les2Alpes. We are going in July/August and I would like to know how it is. Is it OK for beginners? How is the resort? Also, it may be a stupid question, but what should we wear for summer skiing? Do we still need ski trousers or it will be too warm for normal ski gear? Thanks

dorirux, welcome to snowHead . I have been summer skiing there a couple of times. If you are a complete beginner, perhaps a lesson with Easiski would be a good idea , she isa regular on here, and her website is www.easiski.com .Click on her photo in the bottom right corner to email her. I always wear my ski trousers ( hurts less when you fall over), and have a couple of layers on, with a warmer fleece and a hat in my backpack (it could be cold and windy up there, or even snowing). A pair of fleece gloves should be enough for your hands. A good sunscreen is essential if you don't want to come back looking like Rudolph the rednosed reindeer.

Last year we skied on the glacier at LDA for 2 days in early august and there was a little bit of fresh snow one day! It did get a bit slushy/river like lower downtowards lunchtime though........

dorirux, the glacier is good for beginners as there are nice gentle runs

We enjoyed our couple of days there last summer so we are going back for q week this year. It was great to ski in the morning then head down to the valley, get changed and drop of the skis and then get the lifts back up to go for a walk in the afternoon Smile

What's the resort like? We are going with 2 children age 12. I understand there are lots of activities for children.

dorirux, There's probably more to do in the summer than in the winter....you do need to be up early for skiing as Roger C said, it does turn into water skiing around lunchtime.

Wear lots of layers for the glacier, it can get pretty cold one minute up there and then red hot the next. We always take a pair of trainers to put in bag, it can seem a long way up in your ski boots!!

Kids will love it, especially downhill mountain biking in the afternoon....I do!!! Loads to do......have you ordered a brochure from the LDA website? You will have a fantastic time.

Definitely speak to Easiski and can certainly recommend taking lessons from her.
