Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

UK winter forecast: "Snowy, freezing air from Russia"

Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The Weather Outlook (TWO for short) have just published their long-range forecast for the UK this winter. Here are a couple of juicy predictions:
Quote:
There is a high likelihood of widespread and heavy snow during January and February with a 50% probability of blizzards bringing the most significant snowfall to south eastern areas since January 1987.
...
Quote:
According to Brian Gaze, TheWeatherOutlooks senior forecaster "Our expectation is the coming winter will be similar to those of the mid-1980's when even in southern areas moderate or heavy snowfall was not so unusual."

The full forecast can be accessed here, and via the links at the bottom of that page.

The last weather forecast company we discussed somewhere on this forum predicted a cold spell starting Noember 26/27. So what happened to that?
This lot are clearly predicting a White Christmas. Have you all put some money on it? I'm not going to coz I think this site is a Ladbrokes front wanting us all to fork out lots of fivers when they know full well it will rain on Christmas Day in London like it always does.
Keep your money and spend it on Aunty Lelly instead.

The Guardian reports today that huge flocks of waxwings - exotic crested birds from Siberia - have swept across Scotland, prompting further speculation of an icy winter.

Their report weighs up the various long-term predictions

The last weather forecast company we discussed somewhere on this forum predicted a cold spell starting Noember 26/27. So what happened to that?

Well it arrived as predicted in Scotland - not cold enough for low level snow but gave not quite enough for skiing at Cairngorm - see photo at start of this thread

Unfortunatley the high pressure that was initially predicted to remain over the UK and maintain cool settled weather over the weekend drifted south (as predicted in later forecasts) bringing in mild southwesterly airflows Sad which has now stripped most/all the snow Sad .
