Having just booked for Easter, it occurred to me I should let other Snowheads know about the booking service I use.
ESaver Holidays (http://www.esaver-holidays.com/) are an offshoot of another travel agency, and are ABTA bonded. Their deal works like this:
1. Pay membership: £50 per year for single membership (member + 1 family member may travel), or £100 for family membership (member + 5 family members may travel).
2. Find the tour operator product you want to buy.
3. Call ESaver to book, or request booking via their website.
4. ESaver book your holiday and deduct the agent commission, saving you 10% on the holiday price, or a little more with some agents.
Another huge plus is that Tour Operators still pay commissions on discounted offers, so you can get your savings on top of any discounts. The package I've just booked had £130 pp off from the Operator, and I still got my extra 10%.
I've used them for nearly five years now, saving around £400 - £700 per year on booking family holidays, and have found them completely reliable.
They won't be able to get you discounts on flight-only or most hotel bookings, as their savings come from rebating travel agent commissions, which are not paid on those products. Anyone who is booking Ski and a summer holiday through tourops is going to save a lot, however.
Highly recommended!
Paul
P.S. I have no connection with ESaver holidays at all. Just sharing!

If you have an RBS Royalties Current Account you get the same deal through them, account costs us £12 a month but 2 ski trips, a sailing holiday with Neilsons and a villa booked with Hoseasons for summer saved around £800. Includes free annual travel insurance (inc winter sports) too.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

PaulClark, Is that even going to beat the booking direct with the TO via their website deals?
Many tour ops (certainly the TUI group ones) have discounts of around £60 per person which are on top of any others, but only if you book using their website.

alex_heney, I guess that depends on the tourop and the offer.
I booked Crystal. They were offering £100 per adult discount for online booking, which was better than 10% on a £780 price.
Small problem - booking for me and a child, they charge the child full adult price, but don't allow the online booking discount as he's not an adult . So for that special case, sharing one online booking discount between two full fares, the 10% ESaver discount would be better.
In fact, I waited for the holiday to go on offer - down to £650 each after discount - at which time the online booking discount dropped to £30. That left a discounted holiday price for 2 of £1300, on which the ESaver discount of £130 beat the online booking discounts, even if we'd both qualified.
In the summer, we normally book Mark Warner, who don't seem to offer online booking discounts, so it's a bit of a no-brainer for us.
