Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It's a nice town - good few bars and restaurants. You'll buy a Jungfrau Region ski-pass, which gives you access to Wengen, Murren and Grindelwald. Access to all these is by train from Interlaken Ost.

Oh yeah, and Interlaken has a brilliant curry house! (Spice India in Postgasse) snowHead Very Happy

Took these pics in December when we went for a day's shopping:

Not much there Confused I went there for a day one time when I was staying in Lauterbrunnen, but it seemed a quiet and small place with little happening Confused

telford_mike, Laughing I was skiing by day and part of a large group at night so it didn't matter.

Interlaken would be OK as a ski base (accepting the commute), but I wasn't assuming that was what the OP meant Confused

Been there in the summer, very nice. Was set between two lakes, hence the name. A long train ride from the piste tho, would never consider it as a base for a "ski holiday." Expect a 45min trek to resort each morning.

DaSnoMan, a lot will depend on what your expectations are.

The journey to the bottom of the slopes will take about 1/2 hour. The town is nice but is not a ski resort, so apres isn't that lively. There are however some really nice restaurants, cafes, hotels and scenery......and probably lots of coach tours passing through.

Crumbs.... because of where you are staying (around 45 mins away from the decent Murren slopes wink ) i guessed skiing wasnt the main reason and maybe you are a non skier or like hiking, mountain walks, cross country skiing, extreme sports or the many day excursions that are on offer in the region.

I was just trying to find out what was the main reason for staying in Interlaken and not closer to the slopes, sorry !!

riverman, it's in a small parade of shops a few hundred meters from Interlaken Ost station, so I guess it depends weather you are walking towards or away from Interlaken West Laughing

D G Orf, Yes it is on the left walking away from Interlaken Ost station. I still cannot remember is that before you get to Hooters which is on the right?

The sex shop is nearer to the Ost station than Hooters is.
