Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

WANTED: Advice for Confused Skier: Ready to attack more Reds but with what model of skis!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have a fairly dated set of Skis bought when I started. Now I find I can manage Reds and need better skis to progress to the next stage. I am a male, about 5’ 8” – 5’ 9” tall and weigh about 11 St 7lbs. I have no idea what to buy but am keen to look for something at the end of the current season. Has anyone got suggestions as what to buy, a suitable length for Carvers and where to do my shopping. In our area we have few shops so I expect to shop on the Internet. Many thanks!

Welcome to Snowheads, harry. When did you buy your skis, and what are they?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, the current skis are Dynastar Outland 7: 170Cm long (87:65:101). I bought them in Soldeau, Andorra about 6 years ago. I hope this helps.

Sorry, another question. How many/what sort of lessons have you had? Instructors can sometimes be a useful source of advice if you need new skis and/or boots, because they will have seen you ski and can tell what might be holding you back. An instructor did once tell me I should get new boots - urgently!

Thanks, no problem about the questions! I had the usual set of group lessons some years ago when I started. After a couple of years I realised group lessons were a waste of time for what they did. Lately I have had one to one to address particular glitches and bad habits. We had 2 ski trips this year but no lessons but. This year I got nice new boots which keep my feet in tighter and give more responsive skiing. I discovered my old boots were too big. May not get any more replies done tonight but. Many thanks again.
