Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What are they called...tubey neck scarf things

I've got one...it's basically a foot long "tube" of soft material that can be worn in a variety of ways...I love, both for skiing, biking and flying.

BUT

I can't for the life of me think what they're called - the label says "hedy" but a google of that doesn't turn much up...reason being I'm trying to get one a for a friend who's a skiing virgin and is coming on a trip in a few weeks.

Here's a rather bad photo:

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Ed

beanie1 is correct. buff is the brand name for a company that makes them. other people make them as well, including tog24 who call theirs the Snood.

if you've got a tog24 shop near you it'd be worth a visit. i got my brother one a couple of weeks ago for £12. I think the Buffs are slightly more expensive. Both the same though.

Where I'm from, it's called a 'Muffler', which I believe is the 'old fashioned' name for it. I guess because they sort of look like the one on your car. I've also heard them called 'Gators' and 'Turtles', as mentioned above.

I usually just call mine a 'Neck Warmer' so everyone knows what I'm talking about. It's essential equipment in my book, too.

I think what eludlow, was referring to was the very lightweight material one that Buff make. I've not seen these made by another company, although I don't doubt they are. Neck warmers, snoods whatever you want to call them on the otherhand are made by numerous brands in numerous materials.

I love my Buff, it's a great sunhat for spring skiing!

Hurtle, i think you're talking about something else.

I saw one once, my grandad showed it to me. He had kept it as a souvenir from some german he shot during the war. I'm not 100% sure what it was, but i think is was maybe called a "scarfe". Not sure of the spelling though Very Happy

shoogly, it's not impossible, I suppose, that I'm old enough to be your granny, but see - inter alia - http://www.thermalshop.co.uk/neck-warmer-edz-thermal-p-8.html
Anyway, why pick on me, I wasn't the only person to proffer this term?
And, finally, Scarfe is a cartoonist, not an item of clothing.

eludlow, I'm trying to be polite (this week). Oh, OK, you tempted me - that is positively the grossest item of clothing I've seen in a long while! Do you have a fartbag to go with it? Laughing
