Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I notice the club is knocking out instructional DVDs a few quid cheaper than the big ski shops with free postage.
Has anyone watched these ? If yes, are they any good ?
I am thinking mainly of 'Warren Smith' and 'In Deep/Deeper' though the 'Skool' DVDs may also be of interest.

I have the 2 skools, the 2 in deeps and 2 warren smiths. I have watched them.
I'm not really sure how to answer the second part of your question. The videos are well made and follow current methods/thinking as of eg the past few years BASI central theme stuff and beyond. If you are looking for personal improvement tips then the first skool may not be of much use to you as you are not a complete beginner, but then again back to basics never did any harm.
How much you could derive from the others depends on where you are now. If you got only 1 ace tip/technique from all of them would you think that was money well spent?
In Deeper spends a fair bit of time on backcountry safety stuff and rather less on technique than In Deep if that's of any use.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It is the same as golf. One ace tip would definitely be money well spent.
If I won the lottery I would have my own ski trainer with me for much of the time I spent skiing - until I felt there was no improvement. Then if I lapsed into bad habits, I would do the same again. There is no real substitute for someone watching how you do things and giving advice based on that. However individual ski lessons are expensive and there is less chance of seeing the same good teacher over a long period than with a home-based sport.
I take your point about the really basic lessons.
