Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Glove sizing

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone could give me some advice about glove sizing. I've read quite a few of the threads here, and people seem to like Hestra Army gloves. I've decided to get some, but was wondering which size. I read a guide that said to measure (in inches) the circumference of your palm just below the knuckles, and this is the size you need. When I did this, it comes out as 9inches exactly. Would a size 9 be too tight, or just right? Should I go a size bigger - I have quite short fingers, so I'd prefer not to go too large, if possible?

I'd also like to thank all the contributors to this site - it's such an excellent resource, and has been really useful.

I assume you want to buy from the 'net? I'd really recommend trying some on before purchasing, if only for sizing purposes....fingers are funny things....

Oh, and make sure you buy a long enough pioece of elastic to attach to each glove, then thread it through your sleeves - nothing worse than losing a glove on a lift wink

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Guvnor, thanks for the tip. I would be disappointed to drop one.

Like you say, buying on the net may be cheaper, but does have risks. I should probably phone my local S&R and see whether they keep any in stock to try on...
