Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Move with the times people. All things Antipodean are in this season and the must have accessory is of course the"non" duckbilled platypus. NB the "duck" billed variety are sooo passe.

I'm sorry to say that you all missed out on the obvious choice:

A mountain goat, for towing you up the mountain when the lift breaks!!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I saw some gnarly-looking dudes in the snow park the other day packing groundhogs. Now i'm all for pushing the envelope, but those fools are going to get themselves killed with that sort of thing.

Who cares - just come back and do it all again tomorrow Smile

I'm amazed that none of you appreciate the qualities of the Arctic Hare! Not only can you use its ears to diving snow pack conditions but its tail is ideal for applying an amergency coat of liquid wax to you skis, powder to the face etc. And no problems with extreme cold either. They are also an attractive silver blue colour.

This is absolutely true - my 4 non-skiing friends have just got back from a day's snowshoe walk and the leader had the following in his backpack:
shovel - to dig a trench which he used to make a snow table
2 primus stoves
2 saucepans
1 garlic clove
1 nutmeg for grating
a big bag of grated cheese
4 bottles of wine of which a half went in the pans with above ingredients to make the fondue, and the rest they drand
4 baguettes
saucisse
knives, fondue forks, glasses
chocolate and clementines
thermos of hot water which he used to make tea (tisane selection) and coffee.

Obviously this meant he didn't have room for any ibex, but instead brought a tripod, telescope and binoculars which they used to view ibex and chamois.

If you don't believe me ask at the ESF office in La Tania for Nicholas

hmmmm.

all good advice. however i was thinking of taking a Meerkat next trip. i like the idea they pop up and down out of your backpack - hopefully to surprise and distract some boarders?

either that or the polar bear....though would prob need a smaller version - maybe one 12-18 months old? are they ready at that age?

queen_sheba, no problem with 12-18 month Polar bear, they are very mature animals. I started to bring my fella out about 6 months, just training him up and getting him used to the life inside the backpack. At this age, however, they are not yet fully developed, so not so good at towing when lifts break, or the flats are just too long to pole. Additionally the have not got their full strength up so their mauling of snowboarders is not always fatal, sometimes only leaving large severe lacerations. Still though, its a nice age to your polar bear out on the slopes and bond with them. If you are lucky you might even be able to get them used to the early mornings (although this is highly rare, morning grumpiness is part of many polar bear union contracts!)

I find a ferret stuffed down the front of my salopettes allows my mind to focus on things other than what fauna would be best suited to the conditions of the day

takoon, I'm a trifle concerned. Given the environment that a trout requires, isn't it a problem having your fish swimming around in your wine filled reservoir? Unless they like a decent sancerre.
