Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone been skiing in Scotland recently?

Got a few days off next week and thought about heading North, but I am reading conflicting reports on conditions, some say its fine others that the runs are narrow and broken and only 30% are open

bonfie, Have a look here: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=30832&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=240
and here: http://www.winterhighland.info/general/

Quick summary-
Glencoe: has the most snow with green, blue, red, and black runs open and wide
Nevis: has a couple of blue runs (narrowish) and a long wide red run open
Cairngorm: only has green and blue runs open but they are wide and long
Glenshee: only a few runs on the Cairnwell side are open
Lecht: beginners area only

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

All depends what you are expecting:

Have you been before? If so, you'll know not to expect packed powder, groomed corduroy or cruising on 10km long pistes......

If you haven't been, and travel with an open mind, skiing in Scotland is great. I am very easily pleased where skiing is concerned - sliding on the side of a mountain anywhere, no matter how limited, beats a day at work. (Who was it said that "A bad day on the mountain beats a good day in the office"? Not that scotland is bad at the moment though!)

Weather is set to continue sunny for a few more days so forget about the limited terrain, whether it's blues or greens that are open and just go for it. Not that often that it's blue sky ski days at the Scottish areas!

On current reports it's a toss up between Cairngorm, Nevis Range or Glencoe. Depending on how long you're going up for you could base yourself in Fort William & do Nevis & Glencoe for a 2 centre blast - they're about 40 - 50 mins (drive) apart.
