Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm a teacher and desperate to get on the slopes but not got any pals that board/can drop everything last minute (to get better price in hols) to come away.

Loath to join a singles trip and can't find a resonably priced solo trip...

love snow too much to mind boarding by myself but don't really want to spend the whole time by myself!

Are there any web sites that help pair people up/ fill up spaces in chalets?

Female, 30, beg/intermediate boarder.

Can anyone help?

She does, the website is www.pistepals.com. Never used it so I don't know if it will be of any use to you but it is worth a look. Very Happy

snow sick, Difficult one, I can't be seen to be slagging off Scotland and so far I've only been to Glenshee this year which was ok for a day trip but the coverage wasn't great.
Things change so quickly here that it's usually best to check out the conditions on www.winterhighland.info and then make your mind up. I would say it is better than not boarding at all but not as good as going abroad. Madeye-Smiley

Hello snowsick
I'm in the same position. Have you found anything yet? The posts on pistepals all seem to be rather old... I'm looking to join up with someone as well. Unfortunately missed this half term; next holiday will be the Easter break, anytime from 29 March through to 12 April...

Thanks rock hopper, missed that one sadly...

Chri - Noticed the same thing about Pistepals, shame really as there must be loads of us out there! I ended up going snowless at half term but would be great to go at Easter or the funny four dayer... is there anywhere in particular you were looking at?

Cheers... just checked it out, they're quite pricy by the time you add on flights and ski pass but a lot better than whole year of no snow!

went snowboarding new year- borovets and now hooked. trying to go back for week march 16th- on a budget hence location. Female from Edinburgh mid 30's- friends have either no hols, no money or no interest. have booked a studio for week in centre for £190, - has two sofa beds , so if any other females interested, a travel comapnion would be good. If not , would love to meet up with anyone else out there at same time, for boarding and /or evening dinner/drinks.
cheers

Thanks everyone for suggestions. Finally gave up and booked myself a breakfasted room in Wengen [Bernerhof, £175/ week, second week 5%off]. The hotel has some more single rooms available for this price for last week in March/ first week in April. Will hopefully join up with the Downhill Only Club - a friendly bunch as far as I can tell [only met them once]

Very odd, no gfx in your original but it appeared in my quote of it.

Have you got any odd settings in your user profile? Or boxes ticked to disable smileys or BBcode or anything?
EDIT: actually yes you have, the post I quoted does have the "Disable smileys" box ticked. If you edit it, (scissors icon on the right of the post) and un-tick that box it should then work OK.

I'm in a similar position. I was with a group, but illness of a friend meant that two of us delayed whilst the others booked, then he found out he had glandular fever so I was on my own.

I decided to go skiing by myself.
I originally looked at singles special trips, but they were overpriced for what they were, so decided to book something myself. None of the packages were that good, though I found one or two single rooms with no supplements.

In the end I trawled chaletsdirect.com and emailed loads of chalets until I turned up a location and price I liked. I pointed out my concern that it could be a lonely week and most people were happy to give me an idea of the other people staying in the chalet that week.

I've booked now. There's guided skiing so I'm going to be able to join a group if I want to. I'm quite happy to go skiing on my own for a few days.

What's the worst that can happen? Ending up not meeting anyone all week. I think that in a chalet that's unlikely, but in a hotel you could end up alone.

I think that chalet where I'm staying still has a vacancy 8th-15th March (or nearby).

queen_sheba, part of the problem is people failing to pay attention...I posted on your site last year to arrange a trip to Verbier - which was great fun - and I've had 2 people e-mail me this year about joining me for Verbier 2008, simply because they didn't look at the date on the original post. Hey Snowsick - we have a chalet in Bansko and have done a few weeks for solo skiers this season and they have worker out really well. We have another one coming up at the end of March and there are a few other chalets that are doing similar things - it's just a case of searching, but if you contact the chalets directly I'm sure you will find someone who can help you out!
