Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New gondola for Milky Way

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Latest addition to the 'Milky Way' lift network that spans Italy and France is a gondola linking Cesano and Sansicario. This replaces two chairlifts, significantly speeding up this part of the route...

The entire 400km circuit connects Montgenevre in France to Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx in Italy via Claviere, Cesana and Sanscario. Several of these resorts are key venues for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.

The lift climbs from 1361m to 1716m and includes a mid station at Pariol at 1550m.

[Acknowledgements to Patrick Thorne at Snow24 for that news lead.]

..........why can't they replace that awful drag lift that links you from Sauze to Sanscario rolling eyes , it makes 90 degree turns and is almost vertical. I would also mean that at the end of the day coming back to Sauze you would have to take the really icy black run down if you're not up to it Evil or Very Mad

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Dan, you've got my vote on that one! ...and when on earth are they going to replace that dreadful double two going up from behind the White Bear? The gondola is welcome though.

Cool. Anyone know where a decent piste map for the Milky Web can be found online. Trying to find one to work out what changes have been made since my last trip in '02 as I'm heading back there end of Feb (the one on the vialattea site seems tiny and doesn't want to expand on clicking it).

Dan, agree with you on the dog leg and with homphomp about the twin chairs of the Rocco Nere (my personal gripe) - I was told last season that they would be replaced with a new high-speed 4-man for this season but they haven't been.
Also up for replacement is the Clotes lift (which has been there since 1971!) but they are having trouble with the Greens, apparently. I'm told that the replacement is due to go much higher up the mountain so that it would be possible to ski from it to Sportinia Toofy Grin . I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
