Organisers of the next World Cup Nordic combined and cross country events have angered environmentalists in the Czech Republic by straying on to a nature reserve to collect snow. The organisers admitted that subcontractors illegally strayed into a grade two nature reserve when collecting around 200 lorry loads of snow to make up for a shortfall on the tracks....Local nature protection officials say the law has clearly been broken and are assessing damage done by the heavy vehicles. A maximum fine of 2 million koruna (about £58,000) could be imposed.
The World Cup events start on Friday near the northern city of Liberec
