Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Drying boots non-electrically?

I've heard about these things one can stick in one's boots to absorb moisture - kind of like very large versions of the silica sachets found in new handbags (gentlemen may now roll their eyes). Does anyone know what they're called? I've been looking on Google, but my search strings aren't finding anything. Thanks a lot!

Yep have a pair, they are called Dryzone "Dampires" boot dryer

I have brought 2 pairs from Snow & Rock and I have seen them in Cotswold outdoor.

http://www.snowandrock.com/Activity/Gifts+Gadgets/Ski/Dryzone+DRY0001.htm

They are excellent, shove um in you boots when you get back, and the are perfectly dry in the morning.
They last about 5/6 days before they need "re-charging" which you can do by putting them on a radiator or
in the microwave (YUK! Shocked ).

I generally take them out of the boots each morning and stick them on a rad for my return.

Smell-free dry boots, done Smile

Another vote for the Dryzone "Dampires". Superb.

We've got some that we used solidly all of last season and we just hung them up every day and they were fine - we never had to dry them on the radiator.

Only problem is that they're relatively heavy.

They weigh the equivalent of a weeks worth of underwear . . . so, given today's silly weight allowances, you can have stinky feet or . . . just stinky . .

PhillipStanton, I contacted Guy who is the inventor at Dampire as thought would be good to have 'little ones' to fit inside gloves as hopeless trying to dry gloves with leather palms - he recommended these

http://www.skyblueleisure.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2eskyblueleisure%2eco%2euk%2f&WD=dryzone&PN=DryZone_protech%2ehtml%23adryzone_2dprotech#adryzone_2dprotech

and although they don't fit down the fingers, they aren't a bad fit. I am hoping that this will mean the end of smelly damp gloves Very Happy
We usually drive so the extra little bits of kit don't matter. I am flying next trip and will just pop them in my boots to travel.

This is a top thread! Nice one.

I just found a shoe version by Dampire on eBay for £12.95 + postage, through SkyBlue Leisure. They're probably lighter than the ski version and they look like they'll get up to the toes easier (plus be useable off-season in other footwear).
