Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone know anything about this resort? we are looking to book 8 March for a week. We are trying to find out the best area to stay, there is a place called rohrmoos next to scladming not sure which is the best place for lift access and apres ski. Where are the best places for apres ski? Anyone know of any apartments?

Quite a few snowheads have been there, so you should get some decent repies.

I have been, but it was quite a few years ago now (1998 I think, may have been '99).

The ski area consists of four mountains, each linked to the next by only one or two lifts. The "main" area is the Planai, which is the one directly above Schladming, with a gondola going up from close to the centre of town. This is the second mountain from the left (looking from the base).

Rohrmoos is further right, and IIRC the lifts from there go up the Reiteralm mountain, which is the rightmost of the four.

It isn't a riotous place for apres ski, although tere are a few bars in the main part of town.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I did a trip report from my two visits there. Have a look on the reports thread and you will find the link.

Alex is right, the 'main' mountain from town is the Planai. Rohrmoos is further to the west, and is good for beginners and familes because it is basically an enormous nursery slope. Having said that, it has access to both the Planai and the Hochwurzen as well so is fine for other groups.

For apres-ski, restaurants etc. though, I would suggest staying in Schladming itself, as near to the main square or the Planai lift as possible. There are some apartments right opposite the lift station, but I can't remember the name of them. The tourist office website is good.

my old resort reports are on there. I know two decent b&bs both near the main planai lift and bus station - pm me if you want details.

For apres stay in schladming proper, somewhere between the planai lift and the far end of the hauptplatz, www.schladming-rohrmoos.com has a great search engine and map.

Rohrmoos is good for beginners but quiet at night.
