pjnufc, Nice public rooms, we stayed next door, but used the bar and restaurant a few times. Great breakfast buffet.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

pjnufc, yep, agree with Helen Beaumont, nice hotel. Good bar and restaurant. The ski buses to all 3 areas pick up from outside. Ski lockers are down in the basement and it also has a really nice spa. About a 10 minute walk to downtown Banff. Have a great time.

pjnufc, I can just echo the other comments. We stayed there in '06 and it was ideal. A nice large room (we had a queen sized bed each) with a large bathroom. The Caribou is one of the first hotels on the morning pick-up route and the first on the evening drop-off route, so you won't have to wait long for a space on a bus in the morning and you could be in the bar an hour after leaving Sunshine!
The breakfast is good, but go for the buffet rather than menu choices. The options are the same but you can have more of them! The dinner menu is pretty good and is reasonably priced. The ten minute walk to town is pleasant, and the walk back after dinner is perfect for working off some the calories.
It's a nice, friendly place with excellent service but not a pretentious streak in sight.
The easiest way to the basement in the evening with your wet skis/boards/boots is through the car park. It's also the easiest exit from the place in the morning.

Stayed there in the summer about 10 years ago. It was nice back then, and it sounds like it still is.

pjnifc We've stayed there for the last two years. Great hotel and an excellent bar/restaurant. Last year we thought the rooms were getting a bit jaded and there is lack of cupboard space.
We're moving to the Rundlestone for this year (only 3 weeks to go!) partly because of the rooms but also because they have free wireless broadband which saves me $12 a day. I'm sure we'll be in the bar and the Keg restaurant a few times. The Keg burgers are great!
