Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We are going on a 10 day trip in March and due to accomodation restrictions, we've ended up in Samoens/Grand Massif. I have to admit to being more than a bit nervous now. I've heard of icy tracks (and me not the greatest track woman at the best of times), mental speed freaks in Flaine, treks to the gondola. Why didn't you check this out before you booked, I hear you ask - well we did but we wanted to try out staying in a chalet and have never skied in France and the town sounds cute .....

Haven't it fully paid for yet though Twisted Evil

Don't worry - Samoens is gorgeous, the trip over to Flaine is well worth it (but head off and back early....) and there are some fantastic runs all over the GM. I moan about speedsters as much as anybody but its only really an issue at the odd bottleneck. There are lots of positive posts (some by me Little Angel ) and you'd be incredibly unlucky to have a problem with it. As for icy tracks I've 'ad worse in Meribel, Val D'Isere and Wengen......Have a great time snowHead

Think I am in a bad situation here as I started skiing about 9 years ago. Done 17 European trips. In my spreadsheet record I have 83 entries on the resorts I have visited with a small number of repeats in early days. In the last 10 trips I skied on average 8 to 10 resorts in each trip.

There are still so many names to cope with. Austria alone has more than 320 resorts. Despite having skied 12 countries, if England, Scotland and Netherland can be counted, I still haven't done the USA, any resort south of Briancon in France. upmarket resorts like St Moritz and Davos in Switzerland. Garmisch Partenkirchen is the only German resort I have tried and there is nothing Spanish in the resorts I have visited. South America, New Zealand and Australia are unknow territories to me but I am going to ski my first Asian resort in March when visiting Japan in a few weeks.

If I have to make a list it can only depress me.

The only comfort I could draw is I am reasonably certain that the European resorts are biggest (if not the best) by a comfortable margin and so at least some of my time has been worthwhile.

I've been there, but I really really want to go back to Steamboat, Co.

Just something about the place that I loved, arrival of kids meant an end to long-haul flights, which is a good think looking at the thread over on the piste.

Otherwise fancy Canada and NZ

Not to knock you specifically, Helen Beaumont. But I can't help to find it funny people put a whole continent or country (or a state the size of a small country) in a list with resorts. Like: Zermatt, St. Anton, Japan, South America etc. Very Happy
