Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne - Runs and Moguls

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I need a bit of help, I'm heading of to Belle Plagne this weekend (hurrah). Last year we managed to frighten ourselves by skiing La Combe from the glacier only to find it was rather seriously moguled. We did get down and enjoyed most of the rest of the run after the top moguled section, however we had a few issues including one member of the group taking skis and boots off Shocked

So I have 2 questions for you knowledgable snowHead's
i) Any suggestions on any red and black runs that are less likely to be seriously bumpy
ii) Any suggestions on easier runs that are likely to be moguled for me to improve my currently very poor mogul technique?

Snowy Falls, Did Les Inversions and La Crozats recently. Fantastic. Les Inversions was quite bumpy but great, great funa dn I was nealry weeping with thigh burn by the end and La Crozats was steep (manageable) but not to bumpy. snowHead

Snowy Falls,
From the top of Roche de mio down Inversens and Crozats is an excellent longish that has a good vertical drop as well. For a nice shortish mogul run try the blue L'arpette run (maybe to the side of it?) where it cuts down to join the main run down to Plagne Bellecote (accesesed from the Arpette lift). snowHead

Snowy Falls, Head over to Montalbert and there are two fab reds through the trees into the village - Bois de Croselin and Raclisse. Both usually empty and with good snow. I will be cruising up and down them from Sunday onwards so see you!

Yep, great run (the Inversens chair is very slow, though, & it gets cold up there! Perhaps best to approach it via the gondola or the Carella chair.). And don't be tempted to continue down the Route des Bauches blue after Crozats - it's a long, long walk...

Actually, when we were there a couple of weeks ago, these moguls were frozen solid & not very nice at all. But I can see they'd be fun in better conditions snowHead

Two reds we really enjoyed were Emile Allais & Andre Martzolf, going down from Aime to La Roche - bit icey towards the end when we were there, but really nice runs. Good restaurant at the bottom, too Very Happy .

snowHead's strikes again!

Thanks for all the responses; so the recommendations are:
i) Inversens & Crozats (I'm sure this was red last year!)
ii) Bois de Croselin and Raclisse - I will definitely try this as I didn't get over towards Montalbert last year
iii) Emile Allais & Andre Martzolf - these look great again didn't ski them last year
iv) L'arpette for practising my (lack of) mogul skills!

ajpaul, No, thankfully no trip down a slope in socks! After a bit of encouragement and pointing out an escape by traversing to the left boots and skis went back on again!

Snowy Falls,

Les Sources off the top of Roche Del Mio is another nice red. Had a great icy wall of death in the middle of it that has been widened this season but it is still a nice long run.

Be careful if you go near La Roche because there is a madman called BernardC who lives in the woods down there who has been known to stalk skiers who go down there shouting 'get of my fecking land' Toofy Grin

Snowy Falls, try Kamikaze and Hari Kari - one from the Grande Rochette and the other I think from Les Verdons. Nice and smooth higher up, but just towards bottom certainly in the afternoon you find some moguls just b4 the Verdons lift back up. More importantly, eat at the Verdons mt rest. 1/2 way down these runs (they join together) - excellent daily specials...Agree with Les Sources - great fun.

it is a bit mogully but it had loads of snow on it so although challenging it was fine i think theres a couple of reds that are harder in la plagne and it gives your confidence a BIG boost Very Happy

 You know it makes sense.

If you want a really nasty red try Le Lac off the Col de Forcle (if it's open) it's not nice. Had to do it a second time to retrieve someones pole that was left behind after a fall and long slide Confused It wasn't quite so bad the 2nd time ......
Mercedes is easier wink
