Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are Serre Chevalier Valley Runs Likely to be Open at Easter?

Just back from first trip there. Fantastic!! (Thanks to whichever Snowhead recommended the Hotel Vauban in Briancon. Fairly basic but very functional digs - great location for the gondola and great town too.)

Three amazing days skiing on fantastic top to bottom snow - and now planning to go back over easter.

Can anybody advise on how good the area is at keeping low level pistes open in late March? There's quite a lot of north facing stuff so were are hoping that at least a few runs will be open to the bottom. Not holding out any hope for skiing back to Briancon then (ie to 1200m) but should we expect to be able to get back to the Briancon (Prorel) mid station (Which I think was about 1700m)?

mountainaddict,
It varies a bt from year to year. At Easter you can often ski back to Briancon though it is unpleasant after 10 am. You can always ski back to the mid station though again it gets soft as the day progresses, Sometimes though the run to the four man chair is closed by Easter and you have to take the tows to get accross to the rest of the area. Sounds like this is a good snow year and it will stay open though. They usually close the whole Prorel sector fairly shortly after Easter even when the snow is good.
The main runs to the other stations are always kept open with snow making and maintenance.

mountainaddict, definitely. The resort doesn't close until the 26th of April. Prorel will probably close about a week or two before.
