Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Agenterre, you can't censor something just because you think it's awful (isn't that sort of how the Nazis got so powerful?) This thread is better than the site it's talking about and some have been entertained and informed. Let's see if they overhaul it and get it right as a result of our collective input.

"The Rhone-Alpes are home to France's slickest resorts and monster peaks, and include the Isere, Savoie and Haute-Savoie regions. You'd be hard pushed to find a better range of terrain anywhere in Europe, with the possible exception of Austria (which has a heaftier price tag)."

and since when has Austria been more expensive than Val D????

AxsMan, yeah, they do seem to think austria is mega-glitzy and over-priced for some reason. It means they haven't actually been there.

Hurtle, actually it was helpful (if a bit on the "tough love" side of helpful) and friendly enough.

Bode Swiller, Censor ??

.. my train of thought was more of the 'If he allows this to run , he's endorsing it' ... after all , other commercial spams/propositions here get deleted if they aren't endorsed , don't they? Therefore by not deleting snowHead is endorsing ... QED ( well it would work in a pub !!)

Well this is my first post and it really "frosts my back bottom" when people quote stuff so in-acurately!! living in Seattle and skiing at Crystal Mtn daily/weekly, WHY would anyone launch a site with such inaccuracies on it and not expect it to get torn apart!!! Puzzled

"Washington's Cascade Mountains are sometimes referred to as the "Alps of America". Most years, the ski areas in this region enjoy a base of more than 40 feet of snow. These mountains are an awesome destination for a heli ski/board adventure, providing over 300,000 acres of rugged terrain, dry powder and some thrilling inclines."

Dry Powder, please don't make me larf..... the PNW is particularly well known for its LACK of dry powder, almost all of our storms come in off the Pacific and contain high levels of water and we are much more familiar with Wet Powder (except this year where we have been blessed!!)

Crystal doesn't have night skiing and Mt Baker has no lodging in fact the nearest bed is 26 miles away from the mountain!! I am sure I could go on but if I did I might encourage more people to visit Washington and make our mountains busy - and we wouldn't want that now would we!! Laughing

Please try to at least visit the mtns you talk about with so much knowledge!!

Thanks for the welcome Madeye-Smiley - I actually found the website that they plagarised some of those details from, Freshpeaks is probably not a website I will use if I am needing location advice for a future trip!! rolling eyes

Burn1911, try Edinbuuurgh, Scotchland... you can ski powder-laden lofty alps just at the end of Princes St.

Welcome. Yes, that site is nuts.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I can't believe the English resorts have been left out! Evil or Very Mad

On a positive note, the site looks nice.

I suppose it is the skiing equivalent of New Labour then - flashy but useless... Toofy Grin

I'm not highly impressed. Not enough variety in resorts and the reports aren't accurate.

Where To Ski and Snowboard is still the best informative website on ski resorts.

I've just had a quick look around the site and frankly it all seems a bit pointless.

I chose to look up La Thuile as it is the venue for my next trip and i've not been there before. Unfortunately, it really did not have any insightful comment, just bland stats that could be found on any one of a dozen other sites.

What i really found objectional was the editorial style of the site which was at best, biased and at worst, biased and patronizing. An example of this is the write up of Sauze. According the them and to paraphrase, "if you go to this resort you are more likely to be interested in drinking than skiing".

As for the original crass marketing of the site, well, RUSTA has gone off with a well deserved metaphorical, bloody nose. If that makes him improve the site, then that is good for everyone, if his site dies from the bad publicity it so rigtly received, then vox populi has won the day.

That's funny. The section on Germany sounds oddly 'familiar', too. I love it when people plagarise false info (like the over 2000 meter vertical in Grainau, Germany).

According to Sauze d'Oulx's village information the nearest airport is Milan.

WRONG

Milan is roughly 2 hours 45mins.

Turin is about an 1 hour. It even qoutes this earlier. This website contradicts itself majorly. It has been poorly edited.
