Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What's the best way to do it? Back to Geneva airport, or is there a more direct route?

Kramer, depending on how you're carrying your kit - only a backpack would work - you could ski over the border into one of the Swiss resorts of the Portes du Soleil (Champery, Morgins, Torgon etc), then transfer to Aigle.

From there it's about 3-4 hours on the train to Wengen via Lausanne, Bern and Interlaken.

Going back to Geneva would take longer and earns a lot fewer Brownie points.

From Aigle it might be quicker to go to Visp and through the new Lotschberg tunnel ... but practically yes, back to GVA via Altibus and on to Wengen via the train.

brian, just curious. Why don't you like DG's concept? Seems practical to me. Not so?

brian - I like that. Yes, you can avoid Bern by taking that Visp route, and change at Spiez for Interlaken. This knocks about 30 mins off the rail journey.

achilles, well it's quite a long way with a large and presumably pretty heavy pack. I guess it does save a couple of hours off the journey though. Depends how light you can travel.

brian, guess so. It just struck me as rather cool - sort of a ski-touring feel about it. Mind you, I am seeing Kramer doing it, not me (he's not senile) Toofy Grin
