Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Man killed in avalanche in closed area of Whistler

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
One man was killed and another seriously injured after going into a permanently closed area in Whistler. It is believed that the men triggered an avalanche by skiing and snowboarding into a remote area near West Bowl, where they were swept over a cliff. The area was marked as permanently closed and has been so for 20 years....The snowboarder was treated at the scene and airlifted to a Whistler clinic before being sent to hospital in Vancouver. He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The skier died of the injuries he is believed to have sustained in the avalanche. Both men worked in Whistler.

Very sad. They were both local employees, and unfortunately paid the ultimate price. They were in the area known locally as Hanging Roll.

Martin Bell, I think Hanging Roll is above there and leads into skier's right of Mondays, called the weekend shutes, which are also permanently closed.

I have never heard of 'Hanging roll' not that im the expert on Whistler names, but the area where they were swept over the cliff is definitely skiers right of Mondays. apparently they have both skied this resort for a number of years, and should have known better to be where they were. That area is was also skied last year buy someone and they set off an avalanche that knocked over a lady skiing in west bowl and broke her leg.
The rumor is that the survivor IS being taken to court, something about criminal negligence, which i don't know what it means, but since he knew the area and knew the area was closed....
