Poster: A snowHead

Hi snowheads,
Can anyone advise me of websites to look at or people to phone for a decent range of last minute chalet-board ski holidays.
I've just managed to get the first full week of Jan off work at short notice and me and a mate are trying to get something sorted for as little money with as much piste as possible.
Any tips from those in the know would be much appreciated.
Cheers
MC

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd leave it until after New Year to sort it, should get a bargain.

After new year is probably good advice, but check TO sites as well sites like IGLU - you often (but not always) get the same price but with no booking fee.

fastandicy, last year I used the chaletsdirect (http://www.chaletsdirect.com) bulletion board for accomodation, worked really well, wrote down my requirments and got 4 r 5 responses back very quickly. All from independent chalets and the like.

Bones, Crystal are advertising teh same one as Thomson and loads of others. I've tried plenty and come to the conclusion that Chalet Riviere doesn't actually exist and is just a big con to get you on the phone and try to sell you somethin 200 quid dearer.
I'm trying to keep it about the 300 pound a head mark if i can.
skisimon, Tried Iglu. I think i got the trainee on the phone but after plenty of head-scratching on both ends we came to teh conclusion ther wasn't a lot going that fit what i was looking for. They too are advertising the phantom Chalet Riviere. If i do eventually go to Serre Che i might have to try to find this place for a laugh.
yanto, Thanks for that one. I looked at them last year and had totally forgotten about them this year.
I'm still huning guys so keep the pointers coming.
Cheers

fastandicy, Nope Chalet Riviere certainly does exist as I have stayed there in the past !! When we went it was listed as a 5* Chalet and the food was pretty good as was the wine.
I think they might have dumped the rating down a little but it is a nice pad - owned by a British family I believe.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Dear all,
Thanks for the help. I got booked to Serre Che staying in Chalet Henriette for a mere £175 each with Nielson, and apparently with enough snow it's possible to ski right to the door!!!
Cheers
