Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski film critics ramp up for a hot date in Aspen

Roger Ebert has the aisle seat. The late Joel Siegel had the bushy mustache. And Powder, the Skier’s Magazine, has…no such gimmicks. Just the responsibility of honoring the best and brightest of the year in ski film at the Eighth Annual Powder Video Awards and Reader Poll, scheduled for January 26th in Aspen, Colorado. And you have a place too. As tradition dictates, readers are asked to vote for their favorite men and women athletes in the Reader Poll. Voting is now live at www.Powder.com. So make your voice heard, and see who wins on the 26th. Will Seth Morrison make it three in a row? Or will someone else knock him off the top spot?

With more than 30 ski movies submitted for nomination to the awards show, the magazine’s staff and a select panel of experts from across the industry are now voting for their favorite segments, athlete performances, and overall excellence. The number of films being entered is unprecedented, and the panel certainly has its work cut out. Never has there been such strong creativity and athletic skill in the history of ski film. Hours and hours of film viewing and debate go into naming the best in each of the following categories:

Movie of the Year
Best Male Performance
Best Female Performance
Full Throttle
Breakthrough Performance
Best Story
Best Point of View (POV)
Best Line
Best Powder
Best Air, Natural
Best Air, Manmade

The awards will be announced live at the show, which will be held for the fourth consecutive year at the historic Hotel Jerome in downtown Aspen. Known as the Academy Awards of ski film, the Powder Video Awards and Reader Poll recognizes the year’s best performances and cinematography in ski films. Check back for full results, photos, videos and more at PowderAwards.com. The show is an invite-only event.

The 2008 Powder Poll & Video Awards are made possible by our sponsors: The North Face, Stay Aspen-Snowmass, Red Bull, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Boost Mobile.
