Let's try to keep snow reports for Verbier all here.
It is good the way a number of other resorts keep it going in just one thread.
Parlor should be the chairman and chief bottle washer as he is there full time.
We are about to go for a quick weekend. Report to follow on monday...but all the signs point to a white one

I'll let rungsp describe the goods from the w/end as I was mainly drinking / working / drinking / working / drinking. That is if he ever got home. I'm sure we have now had more snow than we got the whole of last year. And it's still coming down. Off to get drunk or do some work, I can't remember which...

Verbier in excellent condition.
Boot deep powder freely available on piste yesterday, even better (though this being Verbier already chopped up) off piste.
Snowing hard yesterday afternoon. Ski conditions good from top to bottom.
More snow is forecast, and cold weather.
All in all if you are coming to Verbier or the nearby resorts for Christmas then snow and good skiing is assured.
Dropped in on Parlor....his place is looking fantastic for the coming season...still a few weeks left...book now!

I'll second that.
On an unrelated note, I can also heartily recommend the new menu at King's. Foie Gras Bangers and Mash to start followed by Chateaubriand. Superb.

OK team, how's it looking? Am out on the 1800 flight from Liverpool tonight. More lifts open?

Snowdepths are about 100% above-average.
One-fourth of the uplift is running today.
Temps are cold.
It is a vintage start to the Verbier season.

Blue sky, cold, hard packed pistes and tracked out around the piste but still soft and fluffy and.worth a rip. Not all lifts open today maybe because it is very quiet. Good conditions all the same though and worth a trip out if you want a cheeky trio before xmas

You know it makes sense.
|
Cold, blue and hard packed.
All pistes fully covered with just a very few bare patches, but really nothing to worry about.
gentiene better than tortin but both cold grippy snow that is a pleasure to ski on.
Had a good day with parlor and mrs parlor in bruson where it was extremely quiet.
Queues have been fairly quiet with the lift system coping very well over the new year period.

parlor, rungsp, Nice to heard......meteoswiss says lots of snow on the way next weeks.....We wish. I will be there 21th (monday) to 24th...... (Someone will be there these days???)
How are the conditions of the off-piste?? (Attelas couloirs, vallon d'arbi, verbier bowl, and mont fort backside and north face, etc....)

AlTom, Attelas couloirs have a little base but are unskiable until the next snow fall. Vallon d'Arbi was superb yesterday. I haven't skied the back of Mont Fort recently but I suspect is in OK condition, maybe a little icey and bare around the lake.
Send me a PM if you want to meet for a beer.

Just got home.
Last couple of days were cloudy, decent fall of snow last night.
Some good fresh lines found this morning before driving off to the airport.
Mountain was very quiet last two days, the New Year crowds are certainly gone now.
Last night's snow was about 20cm, but heavy and wet lowere down. The good thing about that is that unlike fluufy powder it wasn't just getting scraped off the hard polished snow that we had for a few days, it was forming a "new" base.
All in all...pistes in great shape, off piste good, Tortin/Gentienes etc very good.
The Mont Gele cable car is running again!

rungsp, wot he said mostly.... although today beatuifully sunny and piste condition optimal. Tortin must have been the easiest today it could ever be - even a punter like me got down no dramas
snowed heavily yesterday into the afternoon, but snowline stubbornly high - right up around ruinettes, so the home run, though OK, does tend to vary between icy and heavy.
Mont Gele not runnng as far as I could tell, but all other links open, and no queues, so life is OK really.... Long John is ferrying me up to medran from the Kings every morning, with my fellow - exclusifly Russian - guests...

Snowed for the last 18 hours and looks like it will carry on for a little bit longer. Long term reports are saying more snow.
Conditions are awesome and improving every minute.
Have some.

Mont Gele conditions were excellent on Friday, particularly the front face coming down to Attelas so shame it was shut yesterday (and I'm too lazy to walk). Unfortunately back in UK till Saturday now so will miss out. Hopefully more snow later this week though. Mont Fort sector conditions were great yesterday but I noticed hardly anyone was going off the back. More avalanche prone than normal?

Mosha Marc, conditions the best I've seen in Verbier at this stage of the season in all the time I've been going. Drove down to Geneva airport last night and there was still snow on the ground all the way to Martigny. Can't wait to get back on Saturday. Just a pity you'll be spending all day bracquaging really....

Guys please be very careful if you are thinking off-piste.
A LOT of avvie deaths just over the mountains in Italy at the weekend.
Verbier61 over on TGR has the details and it looks scary....even guides getting burried.

Mosha Marc, that was last year.
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21645&page=156 and scroll down to post 3886
He says:
"Disaster weekend in italy. avie killed a lot of people (total count still pending, but close to 10) including two expert locals in livigno on saturday. Most spots had lift systems >2000/2500 m closed on sunday, and cops actively looking for anyone skiing offpiste.
Today another avie was triggered between col d'olen and zube in alagna, so far it is unclear how many people were caught.
I have very few to add, I'd just like to reiterate that what I've seen yesterday in verb (high avie risk and the same stupids traversing again and again the same death hill and trigging the same kind of avie) is nauseating."
The guy is a very very experienced Verbier guy indeed and knows all the near resorts in Italy too (he is an Italian from Milan, very nice guy).

Colleague came back yesterday.
Reprted a week of rather warm weather ( for the time of year).
Excellent piste coverage all over. Itineries in good shape.
Had a decent fall of fresh mid last week.
However...it wasn't me, just reporting what he told me.
