Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

going to el tartar for new year does anyone know if there is a hole in the wall in the village.also is there anywhere to buy basic groceries milk/coffee/beer/biscuits thanks in advance

Soldeu - half mile up the road has the lot

Although.... up the road from the Del Clos hotel - I seem to recall a Spar or something similar

yeh theres a small shop in el tarter-coming from soldeu along hte road its up on the right hand side... sells all the basics! not sure about hole in the wall

Visa has an ATM locator in web and according to their pages there should be ATM in Soldeu. I've never been there so can't guarantee.

doghead, plenty of 24 hour cash points in Soldeu - you are likely to be up there day or night anyway. If not ski across to soldeu down to the gondola - pop to cash point - pint in Irish bar and then back to gondola.

Lots of ATM's in Soldeu but when last there (2005 & 2006) none that operated on my Bank of Ireland cirrus/maestro ATM cards. My sister who lives in the UK didn't have any difficulty and bankrolled the party.

Nearest ATM I could use was in Canillo. List of acceptable ATM's was available on my bank's website.

It's worth checking out whether your bank has partners in El Tarter or Soldeu.
