Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Verbier - The Summerhouse / The Bunker

Has anyone stayed in the Summerhouse or the Bunker in Verbier? They're cheap 'backpacker' accomodations attached to verbier sports centre. I'm thinking of a few days there but am a bit nervous it'll be too grungy for my ..er... refined taste - a.k.a to basic for my pampered middle age butt!

red 27, I did a week there, it's basic and can be noisy. Something like 24 bunks per room and pretty intimate.

Thanks Steve. Oh lummy, that sounds a bit scary as I'm a light sleeper and have been known to murder snorers... Were you in the Bunker, or the Summerhouse do you recall?

I did a week in the Summerhouse, not bad, not much noisy (sleep 8 people) and nice people (we're 2people and share the room with 5 aussies and 1 italian guy). Normally all the people go there for the same thing.....SKI..... a lot of fat skis in the bunker!!

And at the afternoon the free entrance to the swimming pool and the jacuzzi is perfect.

In my opinion, better value to stay at the summerhouse.


Also it's good to do a last minute break after or during a big dump, normally always can find place.

thanks guys... sounds like the summerhouse might be doable. accomodation in verbier is not cheap!

I always take earplugs and eye-shades when I have to sleep in a dormitory, seem to do the job keeping the world out when I need to sleep. Can't hear the alarm when I need to wake up of course... Confused
