Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Resort Help

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi to everyone.

I'm hoping you can help me with the following:

I'm looking to take my wife away in January for a couple of nights. We are not looking to ski, but want to stay somewhere in Europe with guaranteed snow, good apres ski bars/restaurants etc, ideally luxury hotel, ideally easy to get to (close to airport or easy to transfer to). Basically want everything that you look for but without the skiing.

I've never been skiing before so know nothing about which resorts are good/bad. Obviously not bothered about ski slopes/lift facilities etc.

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Marcus

marcusfra, welcome to snowHeads snowHead

Okay....I'm struggling to understand why anyone would want to be in a ski resort and not ski. But each to their own snowHead

When you say "guaranteed snow", are you meaning in the resort or up on the mountains? I'd suggest Zell am See in Austria as a good place to look at.

Hi Elizabeth

Thanks for replying. I guess we're looking for snow in the resort really. Snowball fights, snow anglels, romance, log fires etc etc. She loves the idea of snow, but the not the skiing part!!

marcusfra, Go the the Trofana Royale in Ischgl.....went there on my honeymoon - I think you will find it ticks all the boxes for luxury. An hour from Innsbruck (less in the chauffer driven Merc... wink )

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

marcusfra, you may be struggling to find anywhere that guarantees snow in the resort. It all depends on the weather condtions at the time.

It's a slightly longer transfer, but Wengen in Switzerland could be a good choice. There is spectacular scenery and even if there is little or no snow in the resort, you can get the train up the mountain. If it's your thing, there is also a number of toboggan runs and winter walking trails.

marcusfra, Would have be Wengen or Gstaad for me for the non-skier .... but Wengen would win as the cog-train takes you to the 'Top of the World' and several places in between.
