Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Planning a last minute New Years or Early January

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I just found out I'm going to have a nearly two-week break from work between Christmas and January 8th or 9th and I'm wondering if it's not too late to plan a 5-9 day solo trip during that time. Honestly, ANY tips or suggestions would be welcome, this will be my first winter in Europe and I know nearly nothing about skiing on this side of the ocean. :)

I'm an experienced upper-intermediate level skier, and cost isn't a huge concern, although I'd prefer not to spend a fortune...

(By the way, if anyone is planning a trip during this time and has still a space for a clean, polite, age 20-something woman, I wouldn't mind hearing about that either. :)

bubblejet, welcome to Snowheads. snowHead It's certainly not too late, given that you have the cash - it's an expensive time, obviously. Most accommodation in Europe, especially in that peak period, is let on a 7 day basis, usually Saturday to Saturday but there are various dates over Christmas and New Year. Generally, especially in France, Christmas is less crowded than New Year. If you browse around Snowheads you'll see a range of suggestions, because others have asked similar questions recently. You may not be familiar with the very British concept of catered chalets but they can be a good way for solo travellers to have the possibility of skiing and socialising with others, without being forced to do so. You will probably get lumbered with single supplements wherever you go. You will probably get plenty of more specific suggestions and offers with the next day or so! If you look at igluski.com you'll get a good feel for the range available. Good luck.
