Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne at Xmas?

I was wondering what happens on Christmas day on the slopes, are they open, do the moutain people work on that day and will the chalet hosts be at work too, and what about the bars, will they be open aswell?

The day is getting closer and I am starting to panic.......

northantsred, not been in La Plagne at Xmas, but I presume it is the same as everywhere else: bars, restaurants and slopes will be open as usual.
There will also be a lot of Santas on the slopes - sometimes just hats, sometimes full costume. Go out and enjoy the fun Smile

Been to LP 2x one at new years..

Yes everything will be open as usual - nothing quite like 'first lift' on xmas day - it's an experience in itself..

Went about 3 seasons ago. The snow arrived two days before we did! Phew. Everywhere was open as nomal but you may want to book restaurants in advance for Xmas Eve and Christmas day if you are self catering. We go to France every Chrismas and always have a wonderful time... enjoy

If you are in Plagne Centre, our friend is in charge at Le Soleil just by the floodlit run.

Supposed to be a few live bands on in there, so should be quite lively.

We have been as a family to La Plagne at Xmas twice, and the resort operates as normal. Father Xmas visited with sweets for the youngsters. Xmas eve was memorable, all appartments with children in put nightlights on the balconies to let Father Christmas know where the children are. The appartment we rented promised a christmas tree...we arrived with decorations, but the tree was only about 1ft tall. It did not matter, you cannot beat a white christmas. The problem with France is that main holidays are very family orientated, and can be quiet when the little people have gone to bed. Having said that it is the only way to do Christmas

Ran a chalet in 1800 last season.

Xmas day is as any other - Christmas is a religios festival not a commercial one in France.

Decorations are modest and understated, shops bars lifts etc all run as normal.

Chalet hosts will be working as normal - please be nice to them.

Skiing on christmas day is so much better than being force-fed turkey and rowing with your siblings.
Was in la Plagne last christmas. Business as usual. slopes are normally quiet-ish as the French stay at home and then the crowds build up as you approach new year.
If its not too cold and the snow is good, you'll have a grear day on un-crowded slopes

northantsred, was across the valley in Les Arcs for last two Christmas times - like you was worried as to what would be open etc. Basically is a normal day really - as others have said worth pre-booking for meals, but as we were self-catering was not a problem.

Where abouts in Northants are you then? I'm in Brackley
