Hi, that’s me.
I am 11 months old and 124 cm long.
I’ve got something no other ski has: direction and speed control located behind your boots.
You immediately feel the grip of metal fins when skiing off-piste.
Twisting the feet left or right makes skis pivot on their fins and draw a clean curve in the snow.
Just on hard snow surface you have to care that fins do really carve and occasionally „shoot“ feet and skis forward to put a pressure on fins and to execute a powerful „jet turn on the fins“.
Otherwise you are free to turn as you are used to (carve and skidded turns on ski edges).
The position of fins behind ski boots produces momentum that forces both skis to automatically stabilize in the driving direction and therefore parallel to each other.
Unlike shaped carver this ski offers no handle at ski tip section to get skewed by bumpy terrain.

It's a very odd form of spam.

It is not really spam, in my opinion, if there are no details of where to buy it.
Could equally be in 'Snow News' as 'Equipment'.
A demo video would be interesting - specially in powder.

That's right, Latchigo. There is nothing to buy, just 15 prototypes for good friends.
We have just got 1-2 m new powder in eastern Austria, but are waiting for sun and lifts
to make nice video. Up to now we had nothing but hard and steep without sunshine.
The last video from LaGrave (France) is like this.

No, you can turn as you are used to (carve or skidded turn).
But any time next turn is expected to be critical, you "shoot" your feet and skis forward
releasing ski tips for a moment. It's like "JET-TURN" but executed on rear fins instead.

Tom from Austria, Hmmm - Cannot wait to see the injuries when that runs over/into someone. If those fins are sharp enough to cut snow, they will slice legs.
This is a mind-bogglingly stupid idea, and will be rapidly banned by sensible resorts. Added to which (IMHO) the guy on them in the clip looks a complete and utter lady's front bottom on them. I would rather be seen on blades to be frank.

Are you skating, stoatsbrother ? Stop it ! Just imagine the skids runnning over your or somebody elses face.
Unlike fins, skates are made of steel.
Fact is that fins improve speed and direction control dramatically, such reducing crash-probability on piste.
And ... some of us prefer off-piste, an environment where you can just hurt yourself.
By the way, your ski edges are also made of steel and are sharper than this 3-mm aluminium can ever be.

With snowblades, Rax skis share just one attribute: the length.
Rax skis have been developed from "Firngleiter", both having sharp tail edge.
Do you really think you could compete with any of thousand plus Firngleiter riders from Austria in a steep couloir ?

Getting tired on Rax skis very soon ?
Well, you can keep on gliding over long distances without performing "jet turn on fins" which requires sharp raising ski tips.
Or .. you can turn using traditional technique.
But... the latter makes you even more tired than "jet turn on fins".
My video from Les 2 Alpes is bad, but it shows at least fast turns performed with minimum strength.
The slope there was very hard and 50 degrees steep (end of April).
Just imagine somebody on fat skis running the same trace: jumping and skidding. This makes tired.

Tom from Austria, Ah ha - to save everybody the bother of looking on TGR...
"I already ski horribly out of control on my heels while flailing a single ski pole in the air on traditional skis. I did not know I was on the cutting edge of progression."
"WOW. Do these come with a full frontal lobotomy? Or do they just beat you with them until you loose your motor skills."
So aside from being the Village People's wet dream, are these an orthopedic surgeon's wet dream, too?
I'm just trying to figure out if these are a seventh grade science experiment gone very wrong. Maybe you should market these to snow bikers? Find your market niche man! Those damn things are scaring me.
This looks like it takes every ounce of fun out of skiing. Ok, I can straightline or carve and get shinbangs like never before, but leaning forward at high speeds, carving, and floating and turning in powder are actually highly enjoyable things. And leaning back is a very uncomfortable position, whether you're controlling your skis or not. Plus it must suck for the knees, lower back, and many other muscles and bones.
These things look dangerous, like they could cut someones leg off. What if the binding releases and they fly down the hill and hit someone? I'd be interested in seing them in action though, are there any vids of these ski (can't be bothered to look through the whole thread to find one.
Found the vid.THese things look totally ridiculous
thanks P.............. just looking at that vid again makes me fall off my chair laughing.
No offence or anything Tom from Austria but as a skier, one tries to get down the mountain with as much style as possible ie. looking nice and controlled.
From the vid, these skis look as though they make you ski way in the back seat waving your ski poles around in front of you.
Its just has no steeze
EDIT: Plus these ski don't seem to offer any performance benefits either. Any decent skier could make turns like that.
Just because you are the fastest retard flailing down the slope does not mean you are not retarded.
Tried epic yet?

Tricky one. Do we all start at once or is a time trial? Or maybe it's a very wide, steep couloir. Otherwise I'd take on the best two of your thousand riders if you like. They have to be using your funny fin ski things though. Good night Vienna.
