Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Opinion on Metcheck?

What is the opinion on Metcheck as a reliable forecast site?
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/snow_forecast_7.asp?resortID=74

they seem to have a snow risk chart for the next 7 days and from what I have seen over the last week or two they appear to be right?
Is this one of the best sites or do you know of better?

Cheers guys

Don't put too much belief in their figures from a couple of days onwards, useful for watching the general trend but any forecast that promises 17mm of snow 5 days away is going to be largely guesswork.

The temperature charts are normally quite handy, but have been way off for the past month or so, predicting temperatures of -256 from time to time. But snow quantities after a couple of days in advance get a bit unreliable.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cheers folks. Shall take heed. Very Happy

I've generally found it pretty inaccurate, the 10 day out forecasts are never right.

Last year I spent weeks checking various sites stating doom and gloom in Austria, but when I actually got there there was plenty of snow!

trisco, It's good to get the general situation but as others have said, after a couple of days the accuracy diminishes.

But that's not unique to Metcheck AIUI - *any* forecast more than 2-3 days ahead is of significantly reduced reliability, isn't it?

Well, I'm hoping that their current forecast is accurate, they are saying for Zermatt, snow from Wednesday this week more or less through to Monday!
Just going to check other sites now.

read the beginners guide to GFS forecasting about ten times ( Puzzled ) and you will probably do a better job yourself.

PS it also updates at a snails pace!

J2ski are predicting a similar forecast, probably from the same source.
