Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi folks,
off on travels very shortly and in the need of a head cam? Nothing to expensive of course lol
had no experience of them myself, I know abit about digital cameras,
need something which can be attached to me head with ease, hopefully not one with a hard drive back up, something I can store within the head cam.
Sick of carrying my cameras around and using my hands to film the action for 7days.
Any suggestions?
Elliot

Thanks for getting back me.
Have found some useful stuff on ebay. Some including 2GB cards. Just unsure of quality on these.
640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second which is the same as my digital pansonic TZ1 which does produce excellent video

rob@rar, the ATC-2000 being the successor I guess to the one I saw. Neat but I imagine you want to take some care mounting on your helmet as it doesn't seem to have a display?

Just watched some footage of the ATC 2000 and wasnt impressed, my digital camera is so much better, the 2000 was very pixey. Not for me. Will probs stick the camera, not unless I can find something else better but still in my price range. 2nd hand?

I went the Archos route last year (160Gb Archos 504 and helmet camera) and it was pretty good in terms of quality, and easy enough to set up - just a lightweight camera on a velcro strap round the head, one lead to the unit in backback or jacket. Only issue was the HDD-based nature which meant that bigger shocks lead to glitches in the recording. Ideal solution would be to replace the disk with a solid-state version (eg http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-047-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=910) but obviously that's a money-no-object scenario...

I've got a helmetcam which plugs into my camcorder. Quality seems reasonably good (full 25fps, full-frame resolution, lens quality not bad) but it does have loads of leads and an additional battery pack.

ell1982, You get waht you pay for. ATC 200, can produce watchable results for PC and TV viewing, but is not 'DVD Quality'.
Benefit is if you wipe out then its only £90 (shop around!) camera that you ruin. - though is is pretty rhobust bit of kit, have had mine in water (canoe) and on motorbike, on side of fencing mask as well as skiing - (including a failed jump which resulted in some hilarious footage to watch at night.)
