Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Méribel transport advice

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ive been looking at this resort, we are hoping to avoid a package holiday and book things ourselves.

We can get flights from Glasgow to Grenoble for £75 which is very reasonable so we are trying to work out the best way to get to the resort.

Ive looked at private transfers working out about £120 per person. Also trying to look into this snow train but I dont know what stops I would need to get on at and where to get off.

Anyone got any advise???

Or could the recommend another resort which is within easy distance from Grenoble?

I would advise you to look at the flight times as most receptions close at 9pm so if you do use this service make sure your accommadation is open in the middle of the night because those flight times are awfull hence why they appear to be cheap because no where is open at that time of night in france,

Yeah, I think the plan would be to stay over night and get the train in the morning to the resort. Think Ive managed to work out which train stations we would depart and arrive at.

dj_colinbell,

You'd need to get to Grenoble and then train via Chambery to Moutiers. There should be buses upto the village through the day.

Nearest resorts to Grenoble would be ADH and L2A which is about 90 mins by bus...they say.

There is a bus direct from airport to Moutiers, then another bus to meribel. You need to look on Airport web site and look for link to bus company. Not sure how many go each day or the times. You need to check. Much easier than trains.

Hi, I may well be driving back to Meribel empty so would be pleased to give a lift door to door for a small consideration per person.

dj_colinbell, how many of you are travelling? If it's more than 2 then car hire might be your best bet.

It's an easy drive to Meribel from Grenoble, motorway nearly all the way, probably take between 2 and 2.5hrs

How many of you are "we"? I have always found car hire cheaper than a private transfer for 3+, maybe even for 2, and gives gret flexibility over transport, en route stops etc. That free lift offer sounds good though... snowHead
