Does anyone know when easter hols are 2008? trying to avoid them! they seem to run from 17 March right through to 4 April (depending on your area). Going to look at 8 March I think...already going mid January anyone got any words of wisdom,early March is still normally quite expensive, we don't normally go till later in March....not really much choice if we want to avoid the thousands of kids on the slopes.

The easter weekend is the 22nd March. Week beginning 8th March should miss practically everything though I think.

it varies around the country.
My kids are off 24th March until 7th April, however the families from Reading we skied with are off later - hence we ain't skiing with them next year 
Their hols are Monday 7 April 2008 to Friday 18 April 2008
Some schools appear to be having Easter weekend off, then going back to school, then breaking up for Easter!

Have you ever actually been at Easter? Everywhere I've been it's never been anywhere near as busy as February.

first two weeks of april for my daughter.. last time i went when our hols didnt coincide with the actual long weekend it was nice n quiet.. do all the europeans still stick to schools hols around the moving target of the long weekend..
feb half term is always horrible at the airports!!

Kent is 7th-18th April. Essex is one week offset at 31st March - 11th April.
My rule of thumb is that these two counties (perhaps any two neighbouring LEA's  ) reflect the country as a whole.

This link (pdf file) seems to have most of the Half Term dates for England.
Some schools are sticking with straddling Easter resulting in an awful long Summer term.
Other schools are ignoring Easter and going for early April

I think it divvies up to about one third of schools going for one week each side of the Easter weekend. Almost all the others are off the following 2 weeks, the first two in April however one borough that I know of has gone out on its own and chosen the fortnight following the Easter weekend.
This sort of spreads the crowds out a bit although it does mean that tour ops think the 'high-ish season' Easter period lasts for a Month as a result.
The only week that everyone accepts is low season in March this Winter is the one starting Mar 8th - which is why we are having the Mid Season Bash in Wengon that week
