Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There's nothing like buying skis. A year on from buying my first pair, I'm still getting them out and stroking them at least once a week...

BernardC, cant take credit for either extreme skiing adventure, but a helmet is a good idea doing that sort of stuff. one has to take care when picking a line down the angel tube escalator, check out this vid when the skier got his line very wrong indeed.

They're incredibly tactile. The wave finish which helps to flex up and down but not twist side to side through their length is actually physically there. As I run my fingers up and down them they feel quite unique most unlike the hire ones. They also look thicker, particularly in the middle, than the hire skis I guess that's to give the volume to fit their fancy fusion binding into. Also the ski brake is not operated trough the heel fitting segment of the binding as I'm reasonable sure the hire binding were (from memory). Instead there is a separate raised 'plinth' just in front of the heel binding that appears to operate the brake. But, they do really feel great to skroke with this wavey finish on them. I can't wait for February to have a play with them they really look the business - I'm sure they will make my skiing fantastic wink

Megamum, If you find you are sleeping with them this has probably gone too far... Toofy Grin

The first skis you buy are the ones you feel the most about. But they will break your heart. After that you begin a process of promiscuous purchasing and demo-ing of other skis in a circle of frenzied experimentation, eventually tiring of it and settling down with one pair, but always wondering if another pair might have been better...

Good luck - one pair of skis I bought I put through my own nose when slipping slightly in the car park at the end of the 1st day. Profuse bleeding and an $800 set of stiches later made them a purchse literally paid for in blood.
