Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snow machine starts up at Loveland
Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin area have begun snow making today in their race to be the first ski resort in North America to open this season. Last year, Arapahoe Basin beat Loveland’s 6-year winning streak, opening first on October 13th. Loveland opened the next day.

It is amazing to think that even as recently as 1997 Killington in Vermont opened up on Oct 1. That date is just days away, but temps there are still well up into the 80s.

Sitting at her desk at the Loveland Ski Area, employees like Kathryn Johnson are being treated to a ringing racket from a chorus of phones buzzing to life.
It's still the morning hours of September 24. Most of the calls are from excited skiers wanting to know when the ski area will open.
"We get phone calls, e-mails, they want to know when we'll open, if we're making snow and how much snow we're making," said Johnson.

Arapahoe Basin became the first Colorado ski resort to open for the 2007-08 season, when it welcomed skiers and snowboarders to its slopes Wednesday.

The resort's Oct. 10 opening also was the earliest opening day in its 61 years of operation. This is the second season in a row Arapahoe Basin has been the first ski area to open in North America.

The resort -- dubbed A-Basin -- beat rival Loveland Ski Area by having its opening day first. For the past three seasons, A-Basin and Loveland have competed to be the first Colorado resort to open. The winner has opened from one week to a single day before the other ski area.

"The race to be the first ski area open was tight again this year," Rob Perlman, president and CEO of the Colorado Ski Country USA trade group, said in a statement. "The momentum from Colorado's record season last year, combined with A-Basin's earliest opening in history this season, is a tremendous start to what's shaping up to be another great ski and snowboard season in Colorado."

A-Basin is located 68 miles west of metro Denver in Summit County, and boasts 900 acres of skiable terrain. Half that terrain is advanced (25 percent) and expert (25 percent). The resort's Pallavincini run is one of Colorado's longest and steepest ski trails.

Dundee Realty USA LLC -- a subsidiary of Dundee Realty Corp. of Toronto, Canada -- owns the ski area.
