Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Megeve March 2008

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have just booked a week in late March with Stanford Ski at the Chalet Rond in Megeve. I am going with my partner and two children aged 10 and 13.

Has anyone been to this resort/chalet and what was your experience?

I have heard it is quite expensive.

Can you recommend any reasonably priced mountain restaurants?

Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

karenhenry, there are some fabulous mountain restaurants in Megève, but it is quite an expensive resort. My favourite of the relatively cheap variety is the Radaz, half way up Côte 2000. The omelettes are to die for. The tartiflette is highly recommended too, by those who go in for that sort of thing (I'm not a huge cheese fan). They don't serve chips mind you! The other thing is, to leave the place, you have to be prepared to negotiate the bottom section of the World Cup downhill run - personally, I schuss it all the way Smile - or be happy/capable to do a fairly long trek along Rochebrune (on reds mainly, involving a long and steep drag).

If you feel like pushing the boat out one day, the Auberge de Christommet (in the Jaillet sector) is absolutely fantastic. The Auberge de Côte 2000 is not shabby either. I could go on...

Never stayed with Stanford, but the Chalet Rond is very central.

Oh, and welcome to snowHead s!
