Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kit - what's in and what's out for the new season

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This forum hasn't been catering to the real kit nerds/hoarders such as myself so rather than moaning I have decided to do something about it. So let's post what new stuff we have for the season and what is on its way out. I'll kick off:

IN:

2 x Marker Duke bindings
Legend Pro XXL skis
Patagonia Stretch Element Jacket
(all bought for getting on for 50% off MSRP)
Probably some new "freerando" boots at some point

OUT:
Fritschi Freeride bindings off my Legend Pros
Lots of clothing that has been cluttering up my wardrobe
Atomic R11 boots - they have good servants but they are pretty nackered now

This season I will keep all the kit I had last year.

I will, I will, I will.

I have already bought new gloves (Hestra army whatevers) and a jacket (Mountain Equipment Changabang) in the end of season sales though Embarassed Also Spyderjon keeps tempting me with some Islandic ski which look pretty pimpy Sad

Subscription to the gym - as I assume you'll be getting all the exercise you need and more lugging them up the hill!

Seriously though:

IN:
- 2nd pair of Dynamic 1.2 Slalom skis.
- Slalom gloves (with added thumb protection Wink Laughing )
- Something waterproof (top and bottom) and not too heavyweght. Don't know what yet.
- Goggles that actually allow you to see through them
- New all-mountain/occasional touring setup, 90+ish underfoot. Was planning on those BD Kilowatts and Freeride+. Would probably prefer Stockli DP Pros but feel they'd just be too heavy. Any thoughts?

Out:
Legend 8000s - missing several cm of edge and wayyy to many base shots.
Freerides - now a bit rattly at the heel clip
ME Karakoram II - now doing a seive impression
About 5 pairs of foggy goggles

Limping:
TNF pants + Duct tape holding the @rse together

Laughing Probably shouldn't admit to another race camp this autumn in Tignes as I'll start to get a bad reputation (slalom this time, not GS).

What's a Temptress? If I'm right in thinking what it is my advice would be to send one of them back; life just gets too complicated otherwise...

Ah, I see. I'm still wearing jeans for skiing on plastic and wondering what's best to use. I want something sturdy for when I fall, but not insulated (at least for summertime use).

Bomber bishop telemark binders to go on Prophet 130s.
New pants. Probably Norrona 'cause they're loud and technical.
Some skis. Not sure yet, will be driven purely on price, min 95mm underfoot, 190cm long but would prefer something silly like a Pow-Spat-Plus or something like that...
Anything else that the dirtbag sale throws up on the cheap.

OUT;

Relying on pinching the test skis - its a long walk to the rental shop from my appartment, especially when I'm hung over
Technica boots - cobbled together last year from left overs, actually V comfy after a few adjustments (see, it can happen!!)
Bright yellow Rip Curl jacket - bargain from TK Maxx but was far too big. Made me look like I'd mugged an 8 foot crossing attendant.

IN;

Nordica Supercharger Enforcers 177s + Marker Dukes + Garmont Endorhins. Ski porn!!!!
Plug mould boots (model to be decided) with Inj liners. Keep myself busy.
A jacket that fits and doesn't act as a secondary light source.
A second job to cover the costs of the above.
More exercise in the inter-season to get fit - hello female seasonaires!!!

STAYING;
Pinching test skis from the rental shop; Scott Pures, Black Crow Corvus, Volkl Katanas. More ski porn!!!
