Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What skis to get?!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
At the moment the skis i use are Head carvers from the 05' season and I feel a bit as if they're starting to hold me back now. I want to get a pair of skis for going off-piste and trying my luck at the park but generally decent all-rounder skis with the priority being off-piste/park.

At the moment I'm probably going to have a look at the Armada ARV which actually seem quite cheap at 473 euros, but I've not bought skis in a while.

Then! There's the question of which bindings to get, should i perhaps wait to see if there are any discounts at the londo ski show?

Thanks in advance

Timmaah, The ARVs look like a nice ski and the price is pretty reasonable, others to consider would be;

K2 Public Enemy - very popular with other SH's as an all round twin tip - slightly narrower than the ARVs at 85mm in the waist but it's still plenty of float in the powder. I hqd one of my best powder days last season on a pair of PEs.

Nordica Supercharger Enforcers; At 98mm in the waist they have a lot of float but have a lot of sidecut so at 177cm their turn radius is only 19m, making them pretty manouverable for their size. These are the skis I've bought fot the coming season, skied them a lot last year and love them - plus the graphics this year are awesome (in my opinion).

Volkl Bridge; New for 08, 92mm in the waist and quite a stiff ski. Haven't skied any but as Volkls they should be a pretty sound ski - not as forgiving as the other two perhaps.

At the moment im leaning more to the ARV 08's, anyone got any ideas on good bindings for all-mountain, quite some off-piste/snowpark though?

Alright, a friend suggested the Dynastar PX 12 Jib Wide to me... They seem fairly decent and should suit my needs. Any opinions?

If so, could you give me your opinions please?

Timmaah,

Just my 2 euro cent.

It's like asking what jumper/pullover will fit you on the internet. You won't really know until you've tried them.
Make a shortlist and get yourself to somewhere where many skis can be tested (e.g. St Anton) then make your own mind up.

If you are new to powder skiing then renting some true powder skis and getting some proper off-piste lessons is probably going to help you more in the soft stuff. Depending on how much skiing you do and how much you are prepared to pay, a multi ski quiver may suit you better. Rental shops are quiet happy to let you try more than one pair of skis a day (esp if you are a potential buyer - do a deal before renting to offset some of the rental cost if you decide to buy).

Ya, I'm not new to powder at all Wink Although the analogy does make sense, I just figured that perhaps some people on here had tested the bindings/older season arvs and could give me some insight on them...
