Poster: A snowHead
|
Driving across to Paris late October using the Tunnel. We have 3 kids, Girl 8 and 2 boys 5 +7. Is ski gear cheaper in France than here for kids? If so where should we look? On the way home got an overnight in Calais so gots loads of time spare between Paris and Calis if anyone knows cheap good quality ( we buy neutral colours so we can hand down) kids ski gear?

Decathlon in Albertville (or here in the UK) are excellent for good quality, reasonably priced gear. I don't think there is anywhere especially cheap around Les Arcs/Bourg St Maurice.

Rob not heading down that south. My brother has a place in Paris so having a cheap holiday with the kids and wife so anything on stretch between Paris and Calais.

indeed they do - its in the 5th (or maybe 6th) arrondisiment. I have bought camping gear there, but I wouldn't say it's cheap.

In the end we went to the big newish shopping centre beside Cite Europe in Calais http://www.marquesavenue.com and in http://www.lafuma.fr they had a promotion on where if you bought 3 items the lowest priced item was 1 euro.
We got 2 Millet Ski Jackets and and a pair of Lafuma salopettes for 299 euro. Which is good value. Kids wear wasn't that special and the wife has found good stuff in TK Max

There's a GoSport (We thought there was a Decathlon) in Cité Europe at Calais
No fantastic bargains but a large selection.

We did have a look in there thanks but it was a choice between 'own brand' stuff or 'branded gear' and in trying stuff on the branded felt a lot better. On that basis the offers on branded were really really good in the second shopping centre. They had loads of promotions on while Citie Europe was full of chavs (french kids on half term) and there were no offers.
In the end we got a Millet jacket each for about £100 each which is a very good make at a good price.
