a night corner, probably a bed under the stairs or sleeping under the dining table or bath or something of that ilk

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

"Coin Nuit" - an infeasibly small space sold as a sleeping area for midgets of a height restricted disposition.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

kendadj, Yes davidof, is correct. Could also be a cabine (little cupboard with bunks) or a pull out bed on a mezzanine. Very common in French apartments

Also described, more tweely, as a "coin montagne". Described rapidly and accurately by snowheads who have suffered from them....

Could be OK for two kids (9 and 11) then depending on situation - i.e. in hall with curtain across and can't watch telly when they have gone to bed !

kendadj, ideal for 2 kids. Bear in mind that the "coin" will probably not include anywhere they can dump stuff, bags etc. If you use all the beds in those kind of apartments you'll be very squashed. Think "about as much space as a small boat" and you won't go far wrong.

Hurtle, probably. It's very late (for me) and I have had considerably more rather cheap wine than is good for anyone.

You know it makes sense.

Lizzard, You're forgiven. Have another glass!

Romantically described as a "cabin room" by Tour Operators which conjours up pictures of a nice cosy little room like you might get on a luxury yatch with a brass portal onto the mountains but which is probably more like a berth in steerage on the Titanic. Usually with no window.
Restricted headroom is also one to watch from TOs. It means exactly what it says - an eaves room unsuitable for anyone taller than Quasimodo - or at least you will look like Quasi after a week in one.
The coin nuit brought back memories of one TO who described a corridor with a staircase in it as such. A friend who got this room was not happy.
Normally these kind of rooms are very accurately described in the T&C in the back of the brochure and I suggest anyone booking a ski holiday to read these carefully so they know what they are getting. Personally a bit of discomfort for 7 days on the slopes is a small price to pay - but for many skiing is a secondary part of their holiday.
