Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hey guys.

Has anyone here skied Castle Mountain Resort?

From what Ive seen on trail maps it looks to have some good terrain for easily accessible steep and deep skiing.

Im gonna be 5 weeks in fernie this year and Im lookin at some 1 day here and there trips to other resorts and CMR is one of them so Id like some feedback on it.

Thanks
Tex

We had a great day at Castle Mountain in Feb 2006. A very friendly place with some brilliant terrain. A new area has opened up since our visit. We stayed at http://www.aspengrovebb.com/second.html and it was excellent.
Will be back in the near future. Very Happy

It's high on my list for winter if the snow is good. A little Fernie, Castle, Big Mountain, Montana Snowbowl road trip.

Dunno that one Mike, but it shall be researched ... any place that is 70% black diamond, gladed, 2110 ft vert, and "Conveniently located equidistant, 14 miles, from the Red Dog and Dirty Shame Saloons" has to be visited Madeye-Smiley

And probably a 4 hour drive from home .....

How traumatic is the border crossing to get from Fernie to places like Big and Turner Mountains?

In a rental car its quite traumatic since you need a extra insurance to drive it across the boarder.

That's a little extreme - just because they sit down in the middle of the piste!

Not done that particular one, but other 5 or so I've been thru are piece of cake compared to flying in to US. Crossing are normally a 3 car line, and, heaven forbid, the guards can occasionally be quite friendly.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Turner is definitely worth the trip.

Border crossing between Eureka, MT and Canada is a breeze.
